TiCu Clad (en)

Ultrasonic testing The ultrasonic testing has been successfully used as a means of quality control in the recent years. Certain types of defects such as cracks or adhesi- on problems can be detected due to a higher effi- ciency of the testing techniques. The ultra sound immediately provides information on the characte- ristics of the bond. The sound beam of the ultrasound propagates like light due to the quasi-optical characteristics. Diffraction phenomena only then occurs when the obstacles causing them are the same size as the waves. Ultrasonic waves are hardly absorbed by metals. The reflection characteri- stic of sound waves appearing at interfaces as well as at defects, are investigated. A voltage drop is not to be expected due to the excellent metallurgical bond of TiCuClad. Further processing The Clad material is so strong that the Clad tita- nium can be welded with other titanium compo- nents by tungsten-inert gas welding (TIG-wel- ding), laser or spot welding without damaging the compound. ng Co extrusion 3500 t Extraction and elongation Rolling Ultrasonic testing Fixed size cutting Rough cutting Inspection Shipment 4 Today In the past RZ UP 6 Seiter Engl.07 30.03.2007 13:36 Uhr Seite 3 RZ UP 6 Seiter Engl.0730.03.200713:36 Uhr Seite 3
